Recycle the cotton balls from inside medicine bottles and use them to remove fingernail polish. Also, use empty candy containers for storing cotton balls and swabs instead of buying new containers.
Frugal expert Terri Lee provides moneysaving household tips.

  • Fill a plastic milk jug with water and poke a hole in the bottom. Plug the hole with a golf tee, then tie pantyhose around the handle. Now you have a handy wash station.

  • Put dryer lint in a cleaned-out cardboard egg carton and use as a fire starter.

  • Store nails and screws in a cleaned-out egg carton.

  • Recycle promotional magnets by spray painting them, then cutting out the middle to make a picture frame for your refrigerator.

  • String together empty thread spools on a rope to make a great little foot massager.

  • If you are missing pieces to a checkers game, just spray paint bottle caps to use as replacements. If you put a little sticker on the underside, you could use the caps to play a memory game.
