Figure A

  • A great idea for getting younger children to put clothes away themselves is to take photographs of each clothing item and tape it to the appropriate drawer (figure A). You can also cut pictures out of catalogs.

  • Shoeboxes are great for holding small items, such as action figures and other small toys. The boxes can easily be labeled and stored. Whipped topping containers and pizza boxes are great for storing game pieces and game boards.

Figure C
  • Cut away a large corner of a cereal box and use the box as a handy container for magazines and coloring books (figure B).

  • Place a basketball hoop over the clothes hamper. This makes cleaning up the floor more of a game than a chore.

  • Use an empty beverage box to store up to items such as sports equipment and artwork (figure C).
