Homemade Scentsations

Goofy Gel Air Fresheners

Materials:

2 Tbs. unflavored gelatin
15 to 20 drops essential oil or perfume
1/2 cup hot water
clear container (Recycled jars are great.)
decorative objects to float in gel such as seashells, plastic flowers, marbles and wooden beads

Steps:

1. Stir first three ingredients together until gelatin melts.

2. Place decorative objects in a clear container and pour gel mixture over them. The gel will look cloudy at first.

3. Refrigerate for 30 minutes. The air freshener should last three to six months.

Materials:

flower petals
leaves (for extra color)
2 Tbs. salt
1/4 cup whole cloves
3 to 4 sticks cinnamon

Steps:

1. Place petals and leaves in a bowl and sprinkle with salt.

2. Mix, then add cloves and cinnamon. Let the mixture sit for two weeks, and it is ready to use.

3. Place in a shell or sheer fabric bag and place around the house. When it starts to fade, give it a spritz with perfume or essential oil.

Materials:

1/2 cup rubbing alcohol
orange peel
vanilla bean
cloves or lemon peel (optional)

Steps:

1. Combine ingredients, then cover and let sit for two weeks.

2. Decant into an attractive bottle. The alcohol will evaporate when applied to the skin. This makes for a great party favor.
