Kids' craft expert John Thomas shows how to make creative candles out of broken crayons.

The whole family can have fun together making candles out of old crayons. Have an adult remove the paper sleeves from old crayons and melt them in a double boiler.

Take wax-coated paper drinking cups, and stand a tapered candle in the center of the cup (figure A). Add enough ice cubes so the candle stands on its own.

File the cup with the melted crayon mixture and allow to harden for about an hour, then just pop out the new candle (figure B).
