  • Have children make homemade photo frames with frozen dessert sticks or cardboard (figure A). Decorate the frames with stickers, colored markers or glitter.

  • Let children write a story about dad and illustrate the story in a book (figure B).

  • Sometime it's not about giving something to dad, but rather taking something away. Take away some of dad's chores by making a book of coupons that are good for things like a day of help in the garden, mowing or raking the lawn or washing the car (figure C).

  • Make a paperweight out of polymer clay. Let children mold a design, then have an adult bake the clay according to directions.

  • Make a handy wallet card so that he can carry family memories with him. Cut out a credit card-size piece of poster board and decorate it with pictures of family, stickers or drawings.

  • Storage containers are an easy project for children to do. Let them paint, paste and decorate large and small containers for dad to use either at work or around the home.

  • Older children can decorate a place mat for dad with paint pens and/or glitter pens.
