Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson have entertained kids and adults since 1991, particularly for one adult. Robert Getz lives among all the townsfolk of Springfield. From Ned Flanders, the neighbor, to Blinky, the three-eyed fish. He owns more than 1,000 pieces--everything from board games in foreign languages to Christmas ornaments.

Here are some quick tips on how to start your own collection:

  • Keep your eyes open for figures made by Mattel in the early '90s. Characters that originally sold for about $6 can be worth $75 or more. Also, look for limited- edition figures like the 2001 World of Springfield Radioactive Homer. It originally retailed for $10 but today it can be worth $150 or more.

  • International items can be valuable. A late 1990s Japanese lunchbox promoting C.C. Lemon soda that features the Simpsons and can go for $250 to $350 each.
