Details: Collector Rene Perez has filled his house with Star Wars and Star Trek collections. He began collecting Star Wars items as a child and that is his primary collection. Today the values in his collections range from $30 for loose figures to $400 for the more collectible items. The oldest piece is a 1977 Chewbacca mug that was made the same year that the first movie came out. It was the first item ever licensed. The larger figures in both the Star Trek and Star Wars collections are the most valuable. Perez says that the Internet, sci-fi conventions and toy magazines help in locating those hard-to-find collectibles.
