The Carol Duvall Show cameras visit Billie Ruth Sudduth, whose baskets are both visual and tactile, beckoning the viewer to touch and explore with the eyes and hands. Her work is inspired by a mathematical structure of spiral growth found in nature. Fibonacci was an Italian mathematician in the 13th century who discovered that spiral patterns in nature are a simple formula that can be replicated.

Sudduth shares the steps involved in creating these intricate weavings. She begins by first dying her raw materials of European reed splint and split oak. She then creates the handle for the basket out of the dyed split oak. Next, she begins the spiral weaving process on a flat surface. Once the weave reaches a certain point, it is transferred to her lap. Sides begin to appear, and finally she adds the rim.
