Willow Basket Artist

The Carol Duvall Show cameras focus in on artisan Joanna Schanz as she creates traditional willow baskets. Schanz uses a German willow basketry technique that she learned from traditional weaver Phillip Dickle. According to Schanz, willow baskets are "beautifully functional" because they look like museum pieces but are meant for utilitarian purposes. Schanz shares some basic willow weaving techniques.
