Coil Baskets

Carol Duvall Show : Episode CDS-150 -- More Projects »
For a quick and fun craft, why not try a hand at coil baskets? Suzanne McNeill of Design Originals suggests using coil rope, available at craft supply stores, to make these handy and decorative home accessories. Beginners should attempt smaller sized baskets before working their way up to larger pieces.

Customize the basket by wrapping sections of the rope in colorful embroidery thread or yarn. Use a large-eyed needle to tuck in and hide the thread ends. Next, coil and hot glue the rope together in a upward spiral design to create a spectacular, original coil basket. A hot glue gun can also be used to attach decorative finishing touches to the basket.
