Fairest Of The Fair

Carol Duvall Show : Episode CDS-150 -- More Projects »
On a delightful trip to an art fair, Carol is introduced to several artists.
  • Vivian Mayfield, a professional potter and sculptor, crafts her home accessories in her warehouse workshop.

  • Metal weaver Susan McGehee uses a loom and anodized aluminum to create wall hangings and wearables. Susan often uses "found" electrical components to add an interesting touch to her designs.

  • Teddy bear maker Lisa Wildman uses old-fashioned mohair as well as recycled fur coats to make her jointed teddy bears. The bears take on different personalities depending on the type of fur used.

  • Potter Lynne Rae Ashley incorporates an ancient technique to color her fine porcelain creations. Instead of glazing her work, she envelopes her art with seaweed or other organic material, then fires the pieces inside a clay box in the kiln. This process transfers the color of the organics onto the clay, rendering beautiful, unusual earthtones and patterns.
