Entertaining expert Dana Christine shares tips on throwing a party with a golf theme.

  • Use a scorecard as the invitation (figure A).

  • Transform a croquet set into a golf game, complete with golf flags.

  • Make mini golf flags. Use model clay that hardens when baked as the base. Glue felt flags onto bamboo skewers and insert them into the base.

  • Assemble a buffet table with items relating to golf (figure B). Just follow the steps below.

    Steps:


    1. Use a large piece of green felt as the tablecloth.

    2. Cut out golf shapes from a lighter shade of felt, and adhere them to the darker green cloth to represent the greens.

    3. Glue on mini golf flags.

    4. Add pieces of light-blue felt to represent water hazards.

    5. Glue on sandpaper shapes to represent bunkers.

  • Sew on duck buttons for a final touch (figure C).

  • You could also place boxes at various intervals underneath the felt to simulate hills on the "golf course" (figure D).

  • Use a permanent marker to label golf balls with the names of the dishes on the buffet table (figure E). Place the balls on O-rings to prevent them from rolling around.

  • Scatter the table with colorful golf tees. You should be able to find them at a party or discount store.

  • Decorate the dining area and/or table with golf trophies (figure F).

  • Use a golf-bag-shaped mailbox to hold sandwich buns (figure G).
