Craft an inexpensive centerpiece by sticking miniature flags into fruit.
Entertaining expert Dana Christine shares tips on throwing a Feast of Nations party to honor various cultures.

  • Make it a potluck party, and assign each guest to bring a different dish from their country of choice.

  • Make suitcase invitations from mint tins (figure A) and place mini passports inside. Glue on a picture hanger for the suitcase handle. Write suggestions and examples for guests on the passports, such as what country they are representing, how to dress, what to bring, etc. Tell your guests to learn one sentence in the language of their country.

  • Decorate various tables in the various country's colors, flags and landmarks. Use travel brochures for inspiration.

  • When decorating for an Italian or Greek party, make a grape napkin ring using a floral stick.

  • If throwing an African-themed party, use African fabric to line a table.
