Creative Invitations
TIPical Mary Ellen : Episode TIP-310 -- More Projects »
Entertaining expert Dana Christine shares great ideas for making fun and exciting announcements and invitations.
- Rather than handing out cigars as an announcement of your new baby, why not hand out candy bars? Print up your own wrappers that boast information about the new baby, including "ingredients" (figure A). Use phrases such as "sugar and spice and everything nice," if it's a girl or "snips, snails and puppy dog tails," if it's a boy.
If a new baby has older siblings, have them write up a birth announcement introducing their new sister or brother (figure B). This is a great way to involve them n the birth of the new baby and also gives you an opportunity to send along a recent picture of all of your children to relatives and friends that you may not see very often.
Write an invitation for a child's slumber party on a pillowcase (figure C). Use oil-pen markers to create bright markings. If you're throwing a baby shower, put a rolled-up invitation into a baby bottles, and add a little blue or pink ribbon.Another idea for a baby shower invitation is to write it on the outside of a disposable diaper.
