Carol demonstrates another mosaic project, but this time she uses white eggshells.

Materials:

semi-whole eggshells
bleach
vinegar
"tacky" glue
wax paper
acrylic paint - colors as desired
cardboard
fine sandpaper
clear varnish sealer

Steps:
  1. Remove any membranes from the shells by soaking them in bleach for 1 to 2 hours.
  2. Wash them off with vinegar, and let them dry.
  3. Apply glue to the egg shell, and place it glue-side-down on the surface you are covering.
  4. Place wax paper over the top of the shell, and press very hard to break the shell into tiny pieces.
  5. If you wish, slightly separate the fragments while the glue is still wet.
  6. Let the glue dry, then paint the surface with a mixture of 1/2 glue and 2/3 paint.
  7. After painting the broken eggshells, use a piece of cardboard to scrape off any excess paint.
  8. Let the paint dry, then sand the surface and seal it with varnish.
