Carol demonstrates another mosaic project, but this time she uses white eggshells.
Materials:
semi-whole eggshells
bleach
vinegar
"tacky" glue
wax paper
acrylic paint - colors as desired
cardboard
fine sandpaper
clear varnish sealer
Steps:
- Remove any membranes from the shells by soaking them in bleach for 1 to 2 hours.
- Wash them off with vinegar, and let them dry.
- Apply glue to the egg shell, and place it glue-side-down on the surface you are covering.
- Place wax paper over the top of the shell, and press very hard to break the shell into tiny pieces.
- If you wish, slightly separate the fragments while the glue is still wet.
- Let the glue dry, then paint the surface with a mixture of 1/2 glue and 2/3 paint.
- After painting the broken eggshells, use a piece of cardboard to scrape off any excess paint.
- Let the paint dry, then sand the surface and seal it with varnish.
