Figure B
Polyform Products representative syndee holt* shows how to create unique napkin rings (see photo at right) and provides tips for making solid, marbelized or striped rings.

Plain Napkin Rings

Materials:

Sculpey Premo clay (gold, ultramarine blue, violet, white and copper--half of a 2-oz. pkg. will make one ring)

Steps:

  1. Roll out a thin coil of clay (figure A).

  2. Knot the clay, then bake it.

Striped Napkin Rings

Materials:

Sculpey Premo clay (gold, ultramarine blue, violet, white and copper--half of a 2-oz. pkg. will make one ring)

  1. Stack layers of the selected colors for the stripes. The thickness of the layer determines the width of the stripe.

  2. Cut stack in half and restack on top of each other (figure B). Press back to original size. Repeat these two steps until stripes are smaller.

  3. Make even slices of the stripes.

  4. Lay the stripes in alternating pattern along a solid core of color.

  5. Squeeze to seal and roll/pull out to diameter for ring. Cut a 10-inch length and tie into knot.

  6. Bake as directed, then use.
