Home-decor expert Donna Babylon gives the basics for a throwing a breakfast painting party with your friends. A drop cloth, paint trays, brushes and paint cans provide simple decorations for a paint party (figure A).
- Send out invitations made by dribbling acrylic paint on the envelope and decorating with stickers (figure B).
- Make a tablecloth out of a canvas drop cloth. Dilute paint and put different colors in a ketchup squeeze bottle. Squeeze out random patterns, letting each color dry before adding the next.
Make a centerpiece by attaching paint color strips around an unused gallon paint can. Fill with floral foam and insert items like paintbrushes, stir sticks and flowers (figure C).Make a holder for silverware with a smaller can and layer two solid-colored napkins. Push them in so they stick up, then fill with silverware (figure D).Use clean paint trays for serving food.
Get a painter's palette from an art-supply store, then fill small bowls with jelly and place them around palette (figure E).To avoid confusion, have guests choose a piece of paper from a paint can on which different tasks have been written. Include tasks such as masking, patching, cutting in and rolling.
