Hosting a Caroling Party
Your Holiday Home : Episode YHH-106 -- More Projects »
Door Swags The first thing that guests will see upon arriving are these festive pine door swags (figure B). A French horn, pine cones and berry stems are accented with French ribbon. The musical theme continues in these swags and offers a hint of what is to come.
Dining Room Accessories The dining room should be a symphony of accessories that herald the musical theme. Use artificial garland to weave among gold votive and white pillar candles. Top a red tablecloth with seasonal china and French horn napkin rings to create an inviting place setting for carolers (figure C).
A chair garland of musical ribbon, gold rope and beads, a tassel and musical note greets the carolers to their seats. Music-box place cards identify the seats.Place each music box in a papier mache box, leaving the winding mechanism exposed (figure D).
Music Folders Each caroler should receive a presentation folder with the music to be performed. Write on the folder with glitter glue and embellish with a cord (figure E).
Hand Protectors When carolers are holding a candle, provide them with a protector to keep wax from dripping onto their fingers (figure F). Cut metallic card stock into the shape of a star and etch fold lines with a butter knife and ruler.
Scarves These scarves are nine inches wide with the fringes cut to the length of four inches. Made of polar fleece, the scarves unify the carolers and make a great memento (figure G).
