No matter how simple a meal, nothing adds romance like candles. Even if it's just burgers and fries, a meal by candlelight becomes a romantic event.

TIPical Mary Ellen host Mary Ellen Pinkham and family activities expert Dana Christine share some creative ways for bringing romance to a relationship.
Put the element of surprise into your relationship by writing simple love notes to your romantic interest. Leave sticky notes around the house for your loved one to find, or write a love note on a mirror with lipstick. If he or she takes a lunch to work, slip a note in a baggie and hide it in the sandwich.
Surprise a spouse or loved one at work with a picnic lunch at the office. Invite him or her out to lunch, but don't say where you're going. Show up with a basket of goodies and a blanket (figure A), close the office door and have a picnic on the floor.
Use a video camera, feather boa and microphone to make a music video for your loved one. Lip sync to a love song with a feather boa draped around your neck (figure B).
Make a date night with your spouse. Instructional videos such as a dance or cooking tape, are a great inexpensive resource.
Go dancing without leaving home. Remove all the furniture from the dining room to create a dance floor. String white holiday lights around the room, play a romantic compact disc and perhaps even dress up.
Flatter him in front of his friends. If your mate spends his Saturday afternoon golfing, set the mood for Saturday night by taping a silky nightgown to the handle of his favorite club and hiding it in the golf bag.
You know why they call it a "brief" case don't you? Put something silky in his briefcase to get his attention while he's at work.
The telephone is a great way for communicating more than a list of items to pick up on the way home. Call your spouse or loved one in the middle of the day just to say "I love you."
Back rubs are very romantic. Make a fun guessing game by using different items from around the house to give each other back rubs. Award prizes for correct guesses.
