Materials:
measuring tape
paper for pattern
fabric
scissors
plate
fusible webbing
iron
ribbon
safety pin or needle and thread
Steps:
- Take two measurements of the chair seat: side to side, and front to back.
- Next measure the desired drop (usually around five inches), and add this amount to the length and width measurements for the seat.
- Make a paper pattern with these dimensions. Mark the actual front corners (seat width and length without the drop) with a little "x" on the pattern. On the back, mark where the ties will go by measuring where the chair backs occur. You can reuse this pattern to create different covers for various seasons.
- Using the pattern, cut out fabric of choice. Use the side of a plate as a guide to create a pretty rounded corner.
- Hem around the edges with fusible webbing. Simply turn under about 1/2 inch fabric and iron it flat. Secure with fusible webbing.
- Attach the ribbon on the outside of the chair. It can be secured with a safety pin, or you could sew it in place.
