Figure C

  • Make a homemade menorah with self-hardening clay. Roll out a long piece of clay and use a candle to make nine indentations (figure A). Cut off the excess, let harden, then paint with tempera paint. Place on a silver plate and decorate with ribbon (figure B).

  • Make your own Christmas-tree ornaments with foam balls that are available at craft stores. Press sequins into the balls with decorative pushpins, and use a piece of ribbon as a hanger (figure C).

  • Homemade snow globes made out of baby food jars are a great gift idea that children can make for grandparents (figure D). Just glue a decorative figurine to the inside of a baby food jar lid with a hot-glue gun and set aside somewhere to dry. Paint the outside of the lid if desired.

    Figure F
  • A variety of winter figurines are available at craft stores. Choose from Christmas trees, Santas, snow skiers and more (figure E).

  • When the glue has dried, fill the baby food jar nearly to the top with mineral oil, add some glitter to act as the snow (figure F). Tightly screw on the cap with the figurine. Seal the lid to the jar with a line of hot glue to prevent the oil from leaking out.
