Elegant Halloween Ideas

Designer Courtney Yasmineh explains how to create elegant outdoor decorations for Halloween with food and vintage flea-market finds.
Figure A--Combine herbs and plants such as Russian sage, black-eyed Susans and old tomato vines with traditional elements such as pumpkins and gourds. Pair these items with vintage items that are available at flea markets and antique stores.
Figure B--Create a Colonial-style cornucopia for the window box, using a pineapple as a centerpiece. Replace fading blossoms, but leave any ivy, and fill the box with fresh and artificial fruits.
Figure C--Don't think all Halloween pumpkins have to be turned into jack-o'-lanterns. Line steps with white gourds that you've carved in decorative patterns.
Figure D--For the porch, start by removing any signs of summer. Drape fabric with an autumn theme above the porch, combine with vintage elements such as a bright yellow bench and tie it all together with fall floral elements.
