Materials:
2 large brown grocery bags
fruit: tangerines, apples, red pears, red grapes, cranberries
small jar of cloves
sprigs of fresh herbs
cinnamon sticks
fresh flowers
4 tea lights
3 emergency or plumbers candles
brown lunch bags
1/2" black ribbon
hole punch
knife
scissors
black marker
Centerpiece
Steps:
- Fold the top of a grocery bag down three times and crunch to form a bowl.
- Add a layer of tangerines. Arrange plumber's candles in between these.
- Place the rest of the fruit in, along with nuts and herb sprigs. Make sure the candles stand straight up and are held in place with the fruit.
- Cut the stems short on a few of the flowers and tuck them in among the fruit.
Name Tags
Steps:
- Cut a 4" x 5" rectangle out of grocery bag. Fold in half and unfold again.
- Punch two holes on the lower half--both 1/2 inch in from the left edge. Make the first one inch down from the fold line and the other one inch up from the bottom .
- Slide a sprig of fresh herbs through the holes.
- Cut an eight-inch section of ribbon. Cut along the length to make four 1/8" x 8" ribbons. Use one piece to tie a bow around the center of the sprig.
- Write names on tags and refold.
Tangerine Candles
Steps:
- Cut a circle out of the top of a tangerine and place tea light in.
- Insert cloves around the candle rim (between the candle and the edge of the tangerine).
- Set the tangerine candle on a saucer. Garnish with cranberries, cinnamon sticks, fresh herbs and a flower head.
Napkins and Silverware Decorations
Steps:
- Fold top of lunch bag down two times and crumple the bag slightly.
- Wrap silverware in napkin and place in bag.
- Tie ribbon around the outside and tuck sprigs of herbs and a flower in.
