Outdoor Party Indoors
TIPical Mary Ellen : Episode TIP-720 -- More Projects »
Dana Christine offers great tips for throwing an outdoor party inside.
- When sending out your invitations, add a little sand to each envelope to indicate the theme.
- Tropical paper cutouts and cheap flip-flop sandals (figure A) work great as table decor.
- Large galvanized tins are ideal for holding tropical juices or sodas (figure B).
- If you need extra seating, bring in a few lawn chairs.
- Give the party a tropical feel by scattering seashells and displaying tropical plants throughout the area in which you will be entertaining.
- Use large seashells as tea-light candleholders for each of your tables. Pour a little sand in the shell to balance the candle.
- Set out fishbowls with live goldfish swimming around in them.
- String a piece of ribbon through a bobber to make a cute napkin ring.
- Serve tropical drinks in coconuts or hollowed-out pineapples. Garnish the drinks with tropical fruit and mini umbrellas.
- Use children's sand pails as vases.
