Smart Solutions : Episode SSL-351 -- More Projects »
Kid-craft expert John E. Thomas explains fun methods for introducing children to the kitchen.

Shake-and-Make Butter

Ingredients:

1 cup whipping cream
1 tsp. maple syrup or honey
pinch salt

Preparation:

Mix all ingredients in a container that has a lid. Replace lid and shake until for about seven minutes. Open the container, drain liquid from top and serve.

Edible Ocean

Make a fish bowl (large for groups, small for one) out of food. Use gelatin (clear or light blue) for the water, then insert candy such as licorice to look like seaweed. Add fish-shaped candy and that's it.

Fruit Roll-Yums

Puree canned fruits or use applesauce. Spread in a glass container lined with cellophane. Place in microwave and heat in four intervals of 45 seconds. Cool and enjoy.
