Prentice St. Clair provides suggestions for eliminating car odors:
The first line of attack is to get rid of the source of bad odors with a thorough cleaning. If a bad odor lingers, try placing a small bowl of ammonia on a towel in a larger bowl and setting the bowls in the car. Close and lock the door and leave the ammonia in the car overnight. You might want to put a sticky note on the door to remind you that you have a bowl of liquid on the floor. Air out the car for a few minutes before driving.
