Alternate Window Cleaner
Believe it or not, plain club soda is a wonderful alternative to store-bought window cleaners, which normally contain ammonia and alcohol. Simply spritz on and wipe clean with wadded newspapers. The carbonation is fabulous and the newspaper eliminates lint.
Wood and Floor Polish
Ingredients:
3 parts olive oil
1 part white vinegar
dash of lemon oil
Preparation and Use:
Use at the prepared strength--there is no need to dilute this solution. Combine ingredients and apply to floor with a sponge mop. Use a sponge to clean wood. The oil keeps the wood moist, and the citrus cleans it. It works great and doesn't come with the buildup of store-bought cleaners.
Liquid Cleanser
Ingredients:
1-2/3 cup baking soda
1/2 cup liquid antibacterial soap
1/2 cup water
2 Tbs. white vinegar
Preparation and Use:
Combine all ingredients, stirring to remove lumps. This is great for the bathroom because it eliminates mildew and soap scum. It can be used as a liquid cleanser in the kitchen, but if the surface is ceramic, rinse afterward with water or white vinegar to avoid film.
Deep-Set Carpet Stain Remover
Ingredients:
1/4 cup liquid antibacterial soap
1/3 cup water
splash of white vinegar
Preparation and Use:
Blend soap and water in a blender a few moments until foamy. Apply directly to the stain, working in the solution until the stain is gone. Add a splash of white vinegar afterward and blot up.
