Using Dryer Sheets

TIPical Mary Ellen : Episode TIP-335 -- More Projects »
TIPical Mary Ellen host Mary Ellen Pinkham shares some unconventional ideas for using fabric softener and dryer sheets.
  • Rub a fresh dryer sheet over slips and pantyhose to prevent clothing from clinging.

  • Utilize used dryer sheets as sachets in dresser drawers. For example, line the bottom of your sock drawer with one and you will constantly have dryer-fresh socks.

  • A capful of liquid fabric softener in a quart of water makes a great lint-free cleaner for glass tabletops.

  • Liquid fabric softener adds life to pantyhose because it lubricates the fibers. Keep some handy in a leftover dishwashing-detergent squirt bottle, and add a dash to the final rinse in the washing machine.

  • A dryer sheet will magnetically collect pet hair. Simply rub the sheet over the surface of furniture.

  • Place a dryer sheet inside damp shoes, mittens and gloves to prevent a musty smell.

  • Wipe out the dryer's lint catcher with a dryer sheet.

  • Clean paintbrushes in fabric-softener liquid to keep the bristles soft.

  • Spray diluted fabric softener onto a computer-room floor to prevent static electricity from accumulating.
