TIPical Mary Ellen host Mary Ellen Pinkham reveals her favorite cleaning tools and techniques.

A double-sided bucket is one of the most useful tools in the home-cleaning arsenal (see photo). Tools can be carried in one side, and cleaning solution can be carried in the other.
Cut down on the need to clean grout in the bathroom by using a masonry sealer. First clean the grout using a grout brush, which is a specialized brush that is available at most home stores. Apply the masonry sealer when the grout is clean. This will keep it mildew resistant for a long time.
Scoring cleansers are a necessity around the house, but be careful about choosing a cleanser. Look for nonscratching types. These types of cleansers are strong enough to clean floors, yet are also safe to use on appliances, glass and even enamel cookware.
Use a plastic scraper to remove messy globs without damaging the surface of counters or other areas.
A retractable razor scraper is great for removing materials from glass.
Keep a squeegee on hand to clean glass and flat surfaces. It makes the job much easier.
