Figure B
Springtime Chair Herb Garden

Decorator Susan Welch Heeney provides this tip for adding color and a subtle aroma to a room's entrance: Hang a decorative tassel on a doorknob and occasionally add a few drops of scented oil to the top of the tassel (figure A).

Choose a light fragrance for spring and a heavier holiday fragrance for winter. Select a tassel that complements the color scheme and decorating style. Using a dark-colored tassel hides stains that the oils in the fragrance might create. Another option would be to hang a small vase of very fragrant flowers from the tassel (figure B).
