  • Rub vinegar over your hands before cooking to prevent odors from staining them.

  • To remove odors from hands, rub them with a stainless-steel object, such as a spoon, under running water.

  • If your sponges are producing odors, soak them in a solution of 3/4 cup bleach and one gallon water to disinfect them.

  • Throw a mothball in the garbage can to neutralize odors and keep out insects.

  • Pour some baking soda into the hamper if it's going to be a few days before the laundry's done.

  • Boil lemon water on the stove to get rid of bad kitchen odors.

  • To remove the musty smell from an old blanket, air-dry it in the dryer with a fabric-softener sheet.

  • Remove any lingering odors from pots and pans by boiling vinegar in them. Another way to remove odors from pots and pans is to wash them with a baking soda-and-water solution.
