Collector Inspector : Episode CTI-112 -- More Projects »
Seasonal value is determined by the seasons, or holidays, and also by color. Let's look at the holiday part of seasonal value first. What's the most popular type of holiday collectible? Christmas, of course.

Many people save their Christmas items. Here's Collector Inspector Harry Rinker's stocking that was hung by the chimney with care. What makes it so great? The bold red colors and most importantly the main character of Christmas, Santa Claus. When buying holiday collectibles in November and December, expect to pay a premium price for it.

Now what’s the second most popular holiday? In the antiques and collectibles world, it's Halloween. Much of them are cross collectibles. For instance, a Superman costume like this one appeals to the Halloween collector as well as the Superman collector.
So, today's Collector Inspector's lesson is simple: If you're selling holiday collectibles, sell them in the month or two before the season actually occurs, or just before the colors come into play. If you're buying holiday collectibles, try to buy them in the off-season in order to get the best bargains.
