This soup bowl was made by Enoch Wood, one of the most famous Staffordshire potters. He used the distinctive shell border on all of his plates.

J&R Clews made some pieces with amusing characters. This bowl is called Dr. Syntax Entertains at College. Dr. Syntax was a popular literary character of the time. This piece is priced at $1,950. It has had some restoration, but it is very hard to see.
