Collectible Treasures : Episode COL-1202 -- More Projects »
Collector: Paula Gins

Location: The Las Vegas International Antique Fair

Details: In the Victorian era there were few surfaces left uncovered. Delicate linens were used to dress up tabletops, chair backs and beds. Paula Gins travels to Europe several times a year searching for only the best. She looks for the finest linens available, noting the handwork and quality to make sure they are in pristine condition. Although linens are delicate, she says that they are to be appreciated every day.

  • A rare tablecloth from Switzerland. It's exquisitely hand made with fine detail. A museum quality piece such is this is priced around $900.

  • A rare Victorian nightdress case. Girls that were sent to a convent and who learned the handwork from nuns usually made these cases. There are no two alike, and they are valued between $160 and $180.

  • Small brush bags were also a common item found in a Victorian home. Guests would find a brush and comb inside these charming bags.

  • Marghab linens from the Island of Madeira. Each one was custom made by hand in a variety of colors. The price of these vintage finds is based on condition.
