At the Renninger's market in Mt. Dora, Fla., collectibles expert Terry Kovel happens upon a bargain in classic Willoware.

In this Willoware pattern, it's said that the people on the bridge are lovers trying to escape the girl's father.

Then the gods took pity on the lovers and changed them into birds--you can see them flying away here.

Willoware, sometimes referred to as "Blue Willow" or "Old Willow" was first made in Europe in the late 18th century. It was produced by various manufacturers all over the world.

These pieces made in England are usually higher priced and very desirable.

Those marked "Occupied Japan" are also collectible, but are of lesser value.
