Whimsical figurines are very popular with collectors, and at the Atlantique City Mega Fair in New Jersey and Renninger's in Mount Dora, Fla., collectibles experts Terry and Ralph Kovel found super-hot collectibles in the form of Little Red Riding Hood. Red Riding Hood originated in 17th-century France, and figurines based on the character are highly sought after today.

These dishes are from Holland and date back to the 1940s. The price? $75 each.

The figurines are often the most desirable Riding Hood collectibles because they're easy to display. This large Staffordshire figurine from the late 19th century is priced at $495.

This match holder is from the early 20th century and doesn't carry a maker's mark. Still, it's priced at $175.

Figure A--This toothbrush holder is from the 1930s. It's priced at $150.

Figure B--Made by Hull, these Riding Hood fairytale ceramics were popular from 1943 to 1957. It was everyday department store dishware when it first debuted but lately the price has soared as it's becoming increasingly difficult to find. This cookie jar initially sold for less than $5 originally and now sells for $450.

Figure C--Part of the Hull collection, this teapot is marked at $395. The matching creamer and sugar bowl cost $495 for the pair. "My, what big prices they have!" remarked host Ralph Kovel.
