Advertising Collectibles

Advertising collectibles are very popular with collectors. In Mt. Dora, Fla., host Terry Kovel uncovers advertising pencils. Meanwhile, in Charlotte, N.C., at the Metrolina Expo, host Ralph Kovel finds early 20th-century advertising mirrors that sell for hundreds of dollars!

People have started to collect advertising pencils because they're plentiful and inexpensive. Today they are being sold between $4 and $5 each.

Advertising mirrors were used much like business cards are today.

This advertising mirror was made at the turn of the 20th century, the design, condition and rarity determine the price.

Here's a mirror that was given out by the Laurel Stove Company. It's tagged at $365.

An ad mirror by Beemans's Pepsin Gum has great detail and is selling for $355.

The Boston Varnish Company put this one out. It features a happy man who used Boston brand varnish.

This mirror, also from Boston Varnish features an unhappy man who did not use the varnish. It's priced at $50 because it's not that rare.
