Alan Porter collects everything Batman. His vast collection includes watches
(figure A), statues, Batcars
(figure B) and original comic-book art. He even collects from the newest Batman animated series,
Batman Beyond.
He has spent the last 17 years collecting and has no plans to stop. The collection has grown to more than 5,000 pieces. He loves Batman over other comic-book heroes because he says he's the most human, with no superpowers.
Here are some quick tips on how to start your own collection:
- Look for Batman action figures. A Mego posable eight-inch Batman from 1972 can go for as much as $150. The same figure with a removable mask is worth up to $500!
- Old Batman comic books can be very valuable. A copy of Detective Comics #45, featuring the first appearance of Batman's archenemy, The Joker can go for $6,000 in mint condition.
