"Here I come to save the day!" In the 1940s children of all ages sang along with this Mighty Mouse tune. For the past 15 years, collector Neil Beck has been singing it as well. Mesmerized by Mighty Mouse's strength and courage, he became a devoted fan years ago.

His collection has amassed well over 400 collectibles, including hundreds of comic books and countless T-shirts, toys and figurines--all displayed in a spare bedroom.

Here are some quick tips on how to start your own collection:

  • Look for a Mighty Mouse cookie jar made by Viacom in 1997. It originally sold for $50 and today can be worth more than $100.

  • Keep an eye out for animation cells. One from the 1979 cartoon series The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse and Heckle and Jeckle has been known to go for around $180.
