Back in 1964, a mysterious ailment was sweeping across America. The symptoms were screaming and unexpected fainting. Scientists dubbed it as Beatlemania. Forty years later it had a profound affect on Jim Cushman. He has gathered hundreds of pieces of Beatles memorabilia, autographs and personal items.

Here are some quick tips on how to start your own collection:

  • Look for both used and unused concert tickets. A used ticket stub from the August 23, 1966 show at Shea Stadium is worth about $500, while an unused ticket from the Aug. 15, 1965 show at Shea Stadium goes for about $1,300.

  • Autographed Beatles memorabilia is highly prized and sought after. John Lennon's autograph can be worth $2,000. Paul McCartney's is typically worth about $800, and Ringo Starr's autograph fetches roughly $400.
