Materials:

scissors
assorted natural fibers (no nylon)
iron-on patches
fabric bond
iron
assorted charms, beads, buttons
lanyard or 30" thin leather or rubber w/barrel coil
eyelets and setter
hammer
1/8" hole punch
small jewelry pliers

Steps:

1. Cut assorted natural fibers and threads into small approximately 1-inch pieces. Lay a patch sticky side up on a heatable surface and spread the cut fibers on the patch evenly (figure A).

2. Using a hot iron, press the fibers quickly according to package instructions.

3. Cut a piece of bonding material the same size as the patch and iron it over the fibers. Let cool and remove the backing.

4. Apply another layer of the fibers and press again quickly with a hot iron.

5. Trim around the patch, leaving a little edge. You simply want to even up the fibers.

6. Sew on charms, beads and buttons (figure B).

7. Punch holes at the top for eyelets and set eyelets (figure C).

8. Attach the lanyard or other cord using small jewelry pliers (figure D).
