Christine Angeli joins Carol Duvall to demonstrate a new, simpler method for making ceramic-looking pins and cards using paper and layered clear embossing powder. Although a variety of embossing powders are available on the market, Angeli shows several new items she has discovered, that dry quicker and are versatile enough to conform to any desired thickness.
Materials:
rubber-stamped image, photograph, or other picture
tinted embossing ink pad
clear embossing powder
permanent black ink
stamp markers
heat tool
adhesive pin back
pin embossing set - embossing ink, clear powder, a black stamp pad and six pin backs - discontinued
Steps:
- Stamp image with a permanent black ink, and color in the stamp with stamp markers (figure A).
- Cut out the stamped image and cover it with tinted embossing ink (figure B).
- Sprinkle embossing powder generously over the stamped image and tap off any excess powder.
- Heat the image until it is raised and shiny (figure C).
- For an even thicker effect, repeat steps 2 and 3 then heat again. This can be done as many times as needed. The more you repeat, the thicker the image will become.
