Picnic Mice
No one wants to live with a mouse in their house, except for this collector. She lives with hundreds of them. For nearly 20 years, Louise Freilich has been collecting Wee Forest Folk. These precious collectibles take up two entire rooms of her home. The handmade craftsmanship and details is what inspires her to collect these tiny works of art.

Here are some quick tips on how to start your own collection:

  • Mice are more popular than any of the other Wee Forest Folk.

  • Look for limited-edition pieces. They're retired after just one year of production and can increase in value quickly. "Helping Hand," a mouse piece made in 1985, originally sold for $65. Today it's worth $800 to $1,200.

  • The Holy Grail of Wee Forest Folks is a 1980 piece called "Beauty and the Beast." The creators strayed from their usual mouse theme to create a human and a beast for this highly collectible piece. There were only 45 ever created. This piece could sell for as much as $18,000.
