Collectible Treasures : Episode COL-1101 -- More Projects »
Expert: Philip Chasen

Location: Portland Expo Show in Oregon

Details: This 1903 stoneware bird is an English piece made of salt-glazed stoneware. These curious-looking birds are a product of the Martin Brothers from Southall, England. The Martin Brothers started out making more traditional pieces, but soon odd pieces became their hallmark. Philip Chasen explains that these birds are actually figural tobacco jars. You just have to remove the heads and fill the base. These birds are the most collectible of all the Martin Brothers birds there are two. These birds are valued around $45,000.
