At the Renninger's show in Pennsylvania, collectibles expert Terry Kovel uncovers a hot collectible--Pez dispensers.

Dealer Steve Yuhas, whose collection includes more than 700 Pez dispensers, explains that the dispensers were originally created so truck drivers could effortlessly pop a candy into their mouths while driving.

The most valued dispensers today are those that didn't sell well and were taken off the market after a short time. Some of the dispensers, which originally sold for a quarter, are now worth thousands. Mary Poppins is one such dispenser--today valued at $2,000.

For those collecting today's battery-powered Pez dispensers, remember, they're likely to be more valuable if left in the original packaging.

The Pez dispenser at right is from the 1950s. It was available only by purchasing a Pez dispenser, then sending off an insert found inside the to get the gold-tone one. Though tarnished, it is valued at $300. If perfect, its value would be $500 to $600.
