If your childhood marble collection is long lost and scattered, you might try replacing a few of your favorites at your local flea market. Marble collecting has once again become popular with adults and children alike. Not all marbles are created equal, however, with prices ranging from 10 cents to hundreds of dollars. The swirled marble pictured above was handmade in Germany during the early 1900s and sells for approximately $45.

Collectors that aren't experts should be cautious about paying elaborate prices for marbles without verifying the value. To avoid being on the wrong end of a bad marble deal, purchase more expensive marbles only from reputable dealers who are willing to provide a written, money-back guarantee of authenticity.
