Erica Glasener, host of HGTV's A Gardener's Diary joined by Hilton Garden Inns, worked with local school children in Seattle to plant garlic and peas for Plant A Row for the Hungry. The garden was established at Seattle's South Marra Farm and will be maintained by the children. The harvest from the garden will be donated to local food banks and soup kitchens. Plant a Row for the Hungry (PAR) is a people-helping-people program designed to help feed the hungry in their communities. PAR was developed by the Garden Writers Association and encourages gardeners to grow an extra row of vegetables in their gardens, donate the produce to community soup kitchens and food banks. For more information on how you can become involved in PAR, visit the website at www.gardenwriters.org or e-mail PAR@gardenwriters.org
