Materials Needed:
- floral cotton twin bed sheet
- 20” x 20” pillow form
- coordinating all-purpose cotton thread
- sewing machine
- iron
- ironing board
- straight pins
- scissors
- ruler or yard stick
- 48” coordinating ribbon
Step 1: Cut Fabric
Prewash fabric. For a 20" x 20" pillow form, measure and cut one 21" x 21" piece of fabric and two 21" x 14" pieces and set aside. In addition, cut three fabric strips that measure 5” wide by length of twin bed sheet.
Sew these three pieces right sides together lengthwise to create one long strip. Press seams open. This will be used to make ruffled trim.
Step 2: Press Trim and Pillow Back Pieces
Fold trim in half lengthwise and press. Fold one 21" side of each 21" x 14" piece over one inch and press. Fold over one more time and press. Pin hem to hold in place.
Step 3: Pin and Sew Ruffles
With raw edges of trim and 21" x 21" piece of fabric facing in the same direction, pinch ruffles with thumb and index finger and pin into place. Continue pinning around perimeter of pillow until entire ruffled trim is attached.
Trim off excess and tuck one end into the other. Sew trim into place, leaving half-inch seam allowance. Remove pins.
