Materials Needed:
- white ovenproof plates
- pencil
- assorted colors of food- and dishwasher-safe ceramic paint and paint pens
- artist's brushes
- oven
Create Design
Wash and thoroughly dry plate. Sketch desired design onto plate with pencil.
Paint Design
Use artist's brushes to paint design onto plate with ceramic paint. Ceramic paint pens are also available and are ideal for lettering. If a mistake is made, paint can be wiped off with a wet paper towel. Once complete, allow paint to dry for 24 hours before moving on to next step. Tip: If doing this project with small children, make sure they wear smocks and be sure to protect the work surface from paint.
Bake Plates
Follow manufacturer's instructions to bake plates and cure paint. Allow plates to cool. Tip: Make Santa a matching mug for hot chocolate or create extra plates to give as gifts.
