Turn some dowels and scrap wood into a toy to treasure with these step-by-step instructions.
Materials and Tools:
220-grit sandpaper
drill with circular bit
chisel
2x2-foot wood square
wood dowels
saw
lighter
4 casters
spray paint
rope
painter's tape
plastic cookie cutters
screws
1. Sand the wood as needed for a smooth surface. Drill depressions into the surface, and then use a chisel to remove the drilled sections.
2. Cut the dowels into eight or more sections of varying lengths. Apply several pieces of tape around each dowel to create stripes, and put tape over each wheel as well. Paint the dowels and the casters. Let dry thoroughly.
3. Screw wheels to the underside of the wood base.
4. Tie knots in the end of a piece of rope, and then use a lighter to carefully cauterize the ends to prevent fraying. Use long screws to secure the rope to adjacent sides in a corner of the base to create a handle.
